1.6: TIDAL WAVESSwing, Slip, Slide, and Slither are defined in terms of a line of four. When two lines of four are end-to-end, as in a tidal wave, the definitions apply within each half. This means that for Swing and Slide, everybody will be doing the action, with the dancers paired in the same way as for a two-dancer call like Hinge. For Slip and Slither, the two dancers in the center of each half will work with each other (and the other dancers will not be doing anything). Note that the call Centers Trade from a tidal wave is potentially confusing. Some dancers might think it means the centers of each side, while others might think "centers" refers to the center wave of four (in which everybody would trade with the adjacent dancer). For this reason, callers will often say something like "centers of each half" or "centers of each side" if those are the pairs that they intend to address. But with Slip and Slither these additional words are not necessary because these calls are defined to operate within a line of four, so the "of each half" is already implied.
