4: FACING DANCERS

In the examples we have discussed up to now, the dancers in a formation have all been travelling along their circular paths in the same direction. For example, in a right-hand box, everybody is turning to the right and moving clockwise around a circle. In a left-hand box, everybody is turning to the left and moving in a counter-clockwise direction. In general, dancers will be turning toward the shoulder that is toward the middle of the formation.

However, there are formations where some dancers have their right shoulder toward the middle and other dancers have their left shoulder toward the middle. In such cases, some dancers will be turning left and moving counter-clockwise, while others will be turning right and moving clockwise.
