To do a Half Sashay the dancers in a couple switch places by sliding sideways, without turning. The dancer who starts on the right slides in front of the dancer who starts on the left.
Note that starting from a "normal couple", one with the boy on the left and the girl on the right, a Half Sashay will result in a couple with the girl on the left and the boy on the right.
For this reason, a couple with the girl on the left and the boy on the right is referred to as a "half sashayed couple", regardless of how they came to be that way.
