This "quick tutorial" introduces the general idea of a call and explains the most common cases. It does not explain or illustrate all cases. For additional details and/or examples, refer to the links in the "MORE INFO" box.
Two dancers who are directly facing can take hands and form a very small "circle" (just the two of them) and then start moving clockwise or counterclockwise around their common center point. This action is called Single Circle, or alternatively "making a circle of two".
As with circles of eight or four the caller may specify the direction as either Left or Right (from the perspective of each dancer, so Left means the circle will be turning clockwise), and the default is Left.
As with circles of four, with Single Circle the caller will usually also specify a fraction (1/4, 1/2, or 3/4).
