This "quick tutorial" introduces the general idea of a call and explains the most common cases. It does not explain or illustrate all cases. For additional details and/or examples, refer to the links in the "MORE INFO" box.
Backtrack is normally done from some kind of promenade. The dancers who are told to Backtrack will turn away from the center, turning around halfway (180 degrees), and start walking that way around the center of the set. For example, from an ordinary couples promenade, Girls Backtrack.
The dancers continue walking in opposite directions until the caller tells them to do something else.
