Dixie Style to a Wave (also called Dixie Style to an Ocean Wave) starts from two pairs of dancers facing each other, and ends in a left-handed wave. Each pair of dancers can start either as a couple, or one standing in front of the other (a "tandem").
If each pair consists of one dancer standing in front of the other, the ones in the front, in the center, do a Pull By, using their right hands. Once they get past each other, they do a Left Touch 1/4 with the other dancer from the other side.
If they start as couples, the dancer on the right slides in front of the dancer on the left, as the dancer on the left starts sliding to the right, just as if they were starting a Half Sashay. Then they continue with the rest of the action, with the dancers who were originally on the right doing the Pull By.
Note that when starting from a couple, the dancers originally on the left should start moving over to their right immediately, at the start of the call. If they wait until the others have completed their Pull By, they will be in a very awkward position to do the Left Touch 1/4 properly.
