This "quick tutorial" introduces the general idea of a call and explains the most common cases. It does not explain or illustrate all cases. For additional details and/or examples, refer to the links in the "MORE INFO" box.
Square Chain Thru starts like Square Thru, with the dancers who are facing doing a right pull-by and then turning 1/4 inward ("1/4 In"). They then step to a left-handed wave and do a Left Swing Thru. Finally they do a Left Turn Thru, ending in couples back to back.
Note that:
- After the first turn by the left, as part of the Left Swing Thru, two of the dancers must wait, doing nothing, while the other two dancers turn 1/2 in the center. They will then turn by the left again, as part of the Left Turn Thru.
- As with Square Thru, all four dancers end up facing out of their box.
- If the couples started facing head walls, they end facing side walls, and vice versa.
Left Square Chain Thru is the same but with everything in the opposite direction. The facing dancers start with a left pull-by, and then turn 1/4 inward and step to a right-handed wave to do a regular Swing Thru, then a regular (right-handed) Turn Thru.
