This "quick tutorial" introduces the general idea of a call and explains the most common cases. It does not explain or illustrate all cases. For additional details and/or examples, refer to the links in the "MORE INFO" box.
The call Chase Right always starts with two couples back to back, forming a four-person box with everybody facing out of the box.
In each couple, the dancer on the right turns around half way (180 degrees) to the right and then does the equivalent of two box circulates to end in the diagonally opposite corner of the box, facing in.
The dancer on the left "chases" the dancer on the right by also doing two box circulates (but without turning around first), and ends facing out.
Note that the two dancers who started as a couple on one side of the box are now on the other side of the box (where the other couple started), and that they are now in a right-hand miniwave.
As with many other calls that are done in a box, it is common for the dancers in two adjacent boxes to be doing Chase Right at the same time. In these cases, it is very important for the dancers in each box to stay in their own box.
