Two dancers who are directly facing each other Touch 1/4 by walking forward, without turning. To get past each other, they each move slightly to the left, as in a Pass Thru or a Step to a Wave. But as they pass, they take right hands, and turn 1/4 (90 degrees) around that hand-hold.
Often multiple dancers standing side by side will be doing a Touch 1/4 at the same time. In this kind of situation, they must first drop hands. They each end up holding right hands with the person they had been facing.
Note that if the dancers start facing head walls, they end facing side walls; if they start facing side walls, they end facing head walls.
