This "quick tutorial" introduces the general idea of a call and explains the most common cases. It does not explain or illustrate all cases. For additional details and/or examples, refer to the links in the "MORE INFO" box.
Pass and Roll starts with four dancers in an "eight chain" formation and has four parts:
- Everyone Pass Thru.
- The new centers Turn Thru while the new ends U-Turn Back to the right.
- Everyone Pass Thru.
- The new centers Pass Thru and meet the others who Right Roll to a Wave.
The result is a right-handed mini-wave box.
However, in the most common case all eight dancers will be doing this at the same time, with each file of four dancers doing the action in their own group, resulting in parallel right-handed waves.
Note that all of the turning actions are to the right.
For a Left Pass and Roll, all of the turning actions will be to the left, and the result will be a left-handed box / waves.
